Board of Governors
We have Foundation status, with the Board of Governors responsible for the running of the school within the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.
Dear Parents and Carers,
As the Chair of the Board of Governors of this small and friendly 150-year-old foundation status primary school, I’d like to warmly welcome you to the Wolverton Primary School community.
The board is made up of volunteers from the local area of Norton Lindsey and Wolverton, parents and staff. Each gives their time and expertise to the school for free, and all share the same aim - to help the children in its care to succeed and grow with resilience, ambition and curiosity.
As a board, our primary role is to provide strategic leadership and ensure the highest standards of education and care for all our pupils. We are responsible for overseeing the school’s vision, values, and ethos, working closely with our headteacher, Anna Rogers, and all other staff to support the development and well-being of every child.
Our responsibilities include setting the school’s aims and policies, monitoring progress and attainment, managing finances, and ensuring accountability. We act as a critical friend to the school, celebrating its successes and challenging it to improve further, always keeping the children’s educational attainment and best interests at heart.
As a foundation school the board has a few other key responsibilities that in many other schools would be the responsibility of the local authority:
- We are the employer of all our staff
- We are responsible for setting our admission arrangements
- We have ownership of the school’s land and assets
If you’d like to speak to me in my capacity as chair, then please contact me at brown.n1@welearn365.com (though if the matter concerns your child specifically, we would ask that you initially speak to their relevant class teacher or Mrs Rogers / Mrs Thirlaway).
We look forward to working in partnership with you throughout your child’s journey at our school.
Kind Regards
Neil Brown
Chair of the Board of Governors
Note that none of our Governors have declared any of the following which may influence their governing role: Business Interest, Financial Interest or Governance role in another school
The current board of governors consists of a number of different roles, elected or co-opted on a regular basis.
With the exception of Parent governors, 4 year terms can be extended with the agreement of the individual governor concerned and the board. This is determined at the first meeting of the academic year.
